Yesterday I had my first look at Blue Mars I deliberately waited to write down what my first impression was. Blue Mars is complex and I am sure I do not really understand what is to come out of it all. OK the graphics the big hype and talk about the Cryengine and the lifelike graphics, yes it is good and no doubt it will get way better with a bit of time.

What is Blue Mars? To be honest I really do not know, to me it felt like a Game but maybe more?

I talked to a few people I literally bumped in to,  all had come from SL and wanted to have a look at what was happening here on Mars. You know the line of conversation this is not… and this is sooo bad and this is not what I am used to in SL well folks it is not SL.

The Avatars are presented in an attractive and natural way. Ambient sounds come across good and the way the Avatar is interacting with the “nature” I found really pleasant. Water and waves also looked good Clouds and sky well I think I have seen better.

How to move around? It took a bit to get used to but if you are in to making videos or like to look at your avatar from different angles while walking or running this is great.

What did I feel? I need to compare with similar experiences.

When I first logged in to SL some 4 years ago I was totally taken with the idea and could not wait to get back and build something more.

When I fired up my first region on my computer at home in OpenSim I did not believe my eyes that this was happening on my own computer and did not get much sleep that night.

It is 24 hours since I logged out of Blue Mars

I now have a choice between loading Divas Distro with 512×512 region, Hypergrid and an update module in opensim, Blue Mars or go to bed .

No choice really Megaregion, Hypergrid and Divas Distro is where it is all happening.  Blue Mars has to wait till tomorrow, and sleep ? Maybe a bit later?
